How much salt is used per month on the 48,000 units?

Hey there! Salt is used during the regeneration cycle of your system but how often a system regenerates depends on your water usage and how you have programmed your control unit for the appropriate amount of gallons you use. Some customers regen once a month while others regen weekly, so we can't provide a simplified amount of salt used monthly like that. That being said, a 48,000-grain system uses approximately 14-16 lbs of salt per regeneration, so depending on how often your system regenerates, you can determine your monthly salt usage.

where can I find 1" x1" hose to connect the pre filter to the water softener?

Lowes or Home Depot should carry what you are looking for.

If I water my lawn with my hose will the it kill my grass? If so what do i do to prevent that

Salt water is harmful for plants. Place the unit into bypass when you water your lawn.

I am looking at the 48000 grain harmony series. I plan to install it in the basement, the problem I have is there are no floor drains so to back flush, the line will run to the septic line or outside. As the drain line will run up toward the basement ceiling, will I need to have a separate pump for the drain line?

As long as there are no sags or dips in the drain line, you can run this upwards of 7ft above the system and run the same size line 20ft. If you need to run the line further than 20ft, increase the line from 1/2" to 3/4" at the 20ft mark.

does it not need the Carbon Backwash Filter??

A backwashing valve is not included as standard with the fortitude system, although you can add one to extend the life and efficiency of the system.

how do I know what connection type and do you have installers??

You will need to measure your plumbing to be sure its a 1" or 3/4". We do not offer installtion techs and do not have any to recommend.

How much salt does this 48,000 gallon unit per month on average. They’re two people in my household. My brine tank uses 200 lb of salt per month. Is there a way to reduce the salt usage.

It uses 14-16 lbs. per regeneration. Check your gallon calcualtion to ensure that your gallons are not set too low. We have a tool on our website to help determine this under our Harmony Warranty tab.

Can you also provide 48K grains softener with KDF55 media guard? I'm interested in buying one with sediment filter and KDF55 Media guard with 10% resin

Is there an alert when the salt level gets low?

Our systems do not come with a low salt alert. It is recommended to check the salt level once every month or two.

Can potassium chloride be used in your water softeners?

In place of the salt, yes.

What are the maintenance instructions? Will I ever need to add more resin to the tank?

There is not much maintenance other than ensuring your salt stays replenished. In regards to the resin tank you will simply replace the resin tank with a new pre-filled resin tank in 8-10 years as this is the average lifespan of the resin tank granted you are regenerating at normal intervals.

how often does the system regenerate? How much water is used per regeneration?

On city water sources it can regenerate once a month but if the water is very hard or the unit is installed on a well water source then it may need to regenerate twice a month or more. The 48,000 Grain Harmony Water Softener will use an average of 40-55 gallons of drain water per regeneration.

How do I mix the sodium Cloride with the Potassium Clrorde. Is it a little at a time or 1 bag of sodium one bag if potassium and finish wit another bag of sodium?

Regardless of how it's added to the tank, the sodium and potassium will start to mix once the water starts to saturate the pellets. The regeneration will pull all of the brine from the tank and mix with the resin as well.

Does this system remove fluoride from the utility water

The system will not remove fluoride from the water in the home. However, if you simply want to remove fluoride from the drinking water then consider a reverse osmosis system.

What are the warranties on the Aquatrol electronic head, meter and valve?

The warranty covers the entire control head, meter, and all other major parts. You must register at AquasureUSA.com via the Registration Page within 30 days of the purchase to activate the 5-year warranty.

Does this unit (Harmony 48k), and same offered at Home Depot come with 8% or 10% resin?

This unit is an 8% crosslink resin unit.

can this be installed outdoors?

No warranty is made with respect to defects or damage due to Improper maintenance, or installation outside the recommended specs at any time will be considered neglect and void warranty.

The 10" Whole House Water Filter that is included with this bundle removes chlorine.

The 48,000 grain system will use anywhere from 14-15lbs of salt per regeneration. In regards to the second question, we do not factor how much it will take to regenerate the unit in percents or fractions. The system simply requires 14-15lbs of salt per regeneration to refresh the resin efficiently.

Q1)At what level salt should be kept at. Please provide max and min levels for it. Q2) what happen if the water is being used while the softener is in its recharge/regeneration cycle.

You should start off with 80lbs of salt. Once the salt level is about 3-4" from the bottom of the tank, you will need to add another 80lbs.

You can still turn your water on during a regeneration but you might feel a drop in water pressure. You should not run the washing machine or the dishwasher during a cycle, which normally lasts an hour and 40 minutes.

How much salt does the brine tank hold on a AS-HS48SCP?

The brine tank holds a maximum of about 120 lbs of salt but we suggest you start with a minimum of 40-80 lbs. This will give you a better sense of how much salt is being used per regeneration.

Is the back wash hard on a septic system? And does the reverse osmosis system replenish the minerals needed for healthy drinking water?

Yes it is safe to regenerate on a septic system as long as i does not cycle more then once every 2 weeks. 
RO system with Alkaline filter will replenish the minerals in the water.

How much water to fill in after putting about 80 lbs of salt? What is the ideal type of salt?

5 gallons of water and we recommend mortons clean and protect pellet style.

can the drain hose run up to the attic and back down to the washer drain? 6ft feet up the wall.

Each Harmony Water Softener comes with 10’ of a ½” drain line. If you need to run the drain line further than 20ft, you will need to adjust the line from ½” to a ¾” line at the 20ft mark. If you need to run the drain line above the unit, you can go no more than 7ft above the unit from the drain line connection point on the side of the control valve.

Standared resin (D) can handle 2PPM and below, Fine Mesh (FM) can handle between 2PPM-10PPM

What is the difference between the d, fm, fmp and cp?

Hello, 

We have two different models - FM will remove up to 10ppm of iron and D will remove up to 2 ppm of iron.

What is the frequency of backwashing

We recommend once a month on city water, once every 2 weeks on well water

Does this take out chlorine?

The triple purpose pre-filter will take out the chlorine.

Can you use potacium chloride pellets in place of sodium chloride or a mix of both?

Yes, you can use potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride. We do not recommend mixing both.

How much water is expelled from the softener on a regeneration? Can it be output/drained to a simple perimeter french drain? Please answer BOTH of these questions.

80 gallons of water are consumed during regeneration. Yes, as long as there's an air gap.

Can this be installed outside if kept out of direct sunlight?

Our water softener is designed to be installed indoors away from outside elements. If it must be installed outside, it will need it's own enclosure on all sides.

Yes! Potassium Chloride can be used in place of Sodium Chloride.

Does the smart digital control head keep a running tally of gallons used? For purposes of replacing the pre-filter every 50000 gallons?

No it does not.

is the water drinkable or would you recommend a reverse osmosis system?

The water is drinkable, however, we strongly advise checking the hardness levels of your water beforehand. 
If your hardness is below 400ppm, then it is safe to drink. Anything above 400ppm, you will need to place a reverse osmosis to get rid of the sodium levels. 
If you desire bottle-water quality, we recommend going with a reverse osmosis system.
