How do you know when to change the filter, for the Model: AS-FS-25SCZ?

We recommend adhering to our replacement interval for these filters which is every 6 months.

Does this remove or lessen iron? I've seen reviews that say it does.

This water filter does not remove or lessen the iron in the water.

will it fit a 10" Big Blue housing

Yes. The filter cartridge is 10" and it is considered a proprietary fit so you will need the following replacement cartridge for the pre-filter.

If the filter is broken will it cause the water to turn grey?

When having common use of the water in the home, the water running through the pre-filter should be clear with the exception of the very beginning of the install. Upon installation when water is running through the carbon filter residual finer carbon material may be flushed through and out the filter. If you are experiencing anything other than that, feel free to contact our support for more assistance.

What is the gpm (gallons per min) capacity of this filter?

The flow of this pre-filter is rated at a maximum of 12 GPM which is good since most homes tend to average between 6 - 12 GPM max.

I received my resin tank today from fed-ex and it was delivered upside down. Will this have any effect on the performance of the resin beads?

Our tank is very durable and is designed to take the beating of the shipment transit. Receiving the tank upside down although very rare, will not have any effect on the performance of the system. We do ask the customer to inspect if there is any visible damage to the tank itself beforehand to ensure a smooth installation.

What is the height of the filter? Is this a standard 10 inch filter or is it proprietart?

No, the filter is a 9.8 size in height.

I've seen other filter systems that feature a transparent water filter housing, which would presumably make it easier to see if the filter needs replacing. Is that something that AquaSure offers (or may offer in the future)?

Mine is working well, however water pressure goes low in about 3 weeks and we need to rinse or replace the filter. (Lots of iron) Should we upgrade to the Fortitude Pro Series Whole House Water Filter System | 1,000,000 Gallon Due to lots of iron?

By upgrading to the 1,000,000 gallon unit will help improve the flow rate of your incoming water.

We would also encourage you to use the KDF85 upgrade.

It says the filters are washable, how best do we wash them? I have the AF-ps-30hfs filter currently.

We normally suggest using a gardenhose as the best option.

Can I use a generic 10x4.5 inch filter for replacement? Or do I have to use the v2?

You would have to use the V2, my apologies. Another filter might not be compatible. 

Is the filter recommended for well use

Hello,

Normally the SCZ triple purpose filter is not recommend for well water use.

We would recommend using a pleated filter instead.

Is this a standard 10” x 4.5” filter?

No, these filters do not take a normal 10" X 4.5" filter.

The filter matches closer to a 9.8" X 4.5".

Hi... I have installed Fortitude V2 Series filter before the water softer. The water pressure has been dropping within couple of months of filter replacement. I have replaced the recent filter element couple of weeks ago, and noticing significant pressure drop already. This is the 2nd filter replacement in last 3 months. What could be causing this pressure drop so quickly?

The label says 25 microns but the description talks about a second phase of 5 microns. Does this mean the outside is 25 but the final filtering with this one and only filter (not additional filters being used) is 5 microns?

It is 5 microns.

Is it possible to leave this cap plumbed but replace the screw-on housing and filter with the 20” housing and filter (AS-FL-25SCZ)? Thank you

Yes you can twist the housing and replace the filter. Make sure your water is turned off.

50,000 gallons per use of filter when would be a good time to replace for 2 people and 2 bathrooms

This particular filter would need to be replaced every 3 to 6 months with 6 months being the longest usage time before replacement. 

The water usage in the home will be a factor as to how soon the replacement will be needed.

Does this filter out PFAs?

It will help reduce up to +40%, but it will not eliminate.

Does this filter remove hexavalent chromium (chromium 6) from the water?

No. The only system we have that will successfully remove hexavalent chromium is our Reverse Osmosis System.

can i mount this sideways?

For optimal contact with the filter, we do not recommend mounting this filter sideways.

You can if it is absolutely necessary, but with reduced filtration capacity.

Is the cartridge in the pre filter already?

Yes!

Does the filter housing itself have a bypass? I'd like to be able to change the filter without turning the water off.

This does not come with its own bypass.

when do you replace the filter

Depending on your water quality, this filter should be replaced every six months or sooner.

I have had a small size Fortitude V2 installed at my home. Water is now tasting like carbon. Will this go away soon?

needs to be installed before the water softener.

You would have this installed before the softener to protect it from the many things this filter would remove.
