I have the 48,000 fine mesh softener. I bought it when Lowe's had it on sale for 549.00 with a free pre-filter. Replacing a Rheem unit that was only 5 years old. It cracked at the neck and flooded my garage. I was glad to see this one screws to the tank. I wish they had a wifi option for it. Works great no problem install.
Just installed yesterday but already see a difference. I can finally drink tap water now. Thank you so very much. Very happy!
I was easily able to install this water softener myself with minimal effort. We were very pleased with how quickly soft water returned to our entire home. Would definitely recommend this unit to any do it yourselfers or those needing professional installation.
I bought this system expecting different tasting water.. yuck! So I had to turn around an buy another $50.00 carbon filter because the pleated one they send with the system isn't good enough. Why not just give a pleated one to begin with, the softener part seems to work fine... So we shall see....
Went fine. Works good except that I have a small leak at the brine tank. Have called tech support 3 times, freaking crickets from them. But, they do have a nice voice mail system!!!!

Does the brine thank fill itself with water? or do I have to fill it myself because the water level looks very low after regeneration and I was forced to add water each time.
only time needed to add water is for the first instal. After this the system should add about half tank full of water on its own.Â
If you have any further questions we can assist please email support@aquasureusa.com -
I will purchase a unit AS-HS48FM and I need to know if I can transport it in my car in a horizontal position and this will not affect the resin package.
Laying the unit on its side is fine to do. We use special baskets that hold the resin in place.

Is the Harmony Series Water Softener System compatible with tankless water heater systems? I recently moved into a new construction build home equipped with a Navien tankless water heater and want to install a Harmony Series system to prevent severe scaling since there is hard water where I live. Thank you.
Yes, our water softeners are compatible with tankless water heaters.
-
What is the resin capacity in cubic feet?
This is a 1.5 cubic foot system.
-
Will the unit loose its settings if the power goes out or will it need reprogrammed?
All but the time setting should stay the same after a power outage.
-
What type of salt is recommended if I have iron in my well water?
Iron fighter salt pellets would be recommended for that situation.
-

-
What is the rated service flow rate (gpm)? How long does it take to run a regeneration cycle? How many gallons of water does it use to run a regeneration ? Thanks
The 48,000 is 15gpm. The regeneration is about 1 hour and 47 minutes. It uses 45-60 gallons of water during regeneration.
-
Is it normal to need to add media after a few years?
The media should last between 8-10 years. Other cuases of needing to replace media would be some kind of contamination taking place in the resin or by possilby losing resin from reversed plumbing lines.
-
With this system do you have to replace the resin ? Or just the carbon filters and salt tablets ?
The resin tank is good for 8-10 years depening on water quality.
-
Is the Harmony series water softener suitable for placement outside?
An outdoor install is unfortunately not recommended as it voids the warranty. Due to the electrical control valve head, we would not be able to guarantee the best performance if the system is exposed to the elements. When exposed to the elements, there is also the chance for rust to occur, which can be a slow killer for the system.
In rare instances, certain homes are plumbed to have the inlet/outlet meet the water softener outside. If this is the case, we highly recommend building a small shed or enclosure around the system to keep it safe from the elements.
-
Can I use salt pellets?
Yes. Salt pellets are the preferred style of salt for our systems.

Hi, I do not have a water drain close by where the water line comes in the house, where I want to place the water softener system. There is sump pump 10 feet away. Can I use the sump pump as the drain? Also, what is the maximum recommended length for the drain line? Thanks!
The drain hose is a standard 10-foot length. It can be increased to upwards of 20-25 feet. However, you would increase the line size from the standard 1/2" to 3/4" if you need to extend it. Larger 3/4" hoses can be procured at your local hardware store and cut to the desired length. This will ensure that there is an optimal flow for the drain water. To answer your other question, it is not advised to drain the drain water out into the sump pump and/or septic tank as damage could occur over time. In some more rural areas customers have also been know to route the drain line in a way to where it is draining to an area devoid of plant life or simply draining into a dry well.
-
On the 48k model how often will it regen with 23gpg hardness and 3ppm iron? Also how much salt is used during regen?
It may regenerate up to once or twice a month. Additionally, the 48,000 Grain Harmony Water Softener uses anywhere from 14-16lbs of salt per regeneration.
-

My BF time is 12 mins but I don’t think it provides 5 gallons in my 48FM. How much water will the tank hold before the auto shut-off kicks in, assuming 80 # of salt in tank. If I increase the fill time, will the auto shut-off keep it from over filling?
Hello - the 5 gallons is the initial start off only; after the system goes to regenerations the water lever should be around half ways the brine tank
-
HOW OFTEN IS THE NFILTER CHANGES AND HOW EXPENSIVE ARE THEY?
There aren't any filters included with this model. The resin in the softener should last 8-10 years.
-
does the resin ever need replacing
Our resin normally lasts up to 8-10 years, depending on water quality and usage. Once a replacement is needed, you have the option between replacing just the resin or a new pre-filled tank.
-
when the system is regenerating is the water in home disrupted?
When the system is regenerating it can still provide water to the home but it may not be the pressure you are used to since regeneration does pull on your water pressure. When the cycle is complete, the pressure returns to normal.
-
whats the difference between cation resin and fine mesh
Our standard resin removes up to 2ppm of iron and consists of 8% crosslink. Our Fine Mesh resin removes up to 10ppm of iron and consists of 10% crosslink.
-
how much salt and water does it take to backwash
Your brine tank should contain 80 pounds of salt and 5 gallons of water for proper regeneration.
-
Does it come with all installation parts or do we need to buy specific fittings
The unit comes standard with a 1" NPT/Yoke connection to connect to your inlet/outlet plumbing pipes. If you do not already have them you may need 1" fittings as the system does not come with those. If you have 1" piping then 1" Sharkbite fittings are normally the trusted brand.

Will this get rid of the rotten egg smell?
The 48,000 Grain Harmony Water Softener is mainly for removing the agents that make water hard (i.e. calcium and magnesium along with some levels of iron). To get rid of sulfur dioxide which gives off the rotten egg smell you will need one of our media tanks with the KDF 85 upgrade that you see in the link below.

What is the total gallons calculation that I should use when there is iron present in the water?
Hello Dan,
The calculation for gallons will still be the same regardless of iron in the water. If you would like to see the formula please find page 20 of the owner's manual in the link below. It should answer your question.

What is the inlet pressure rating for the softener?
The maximum allowable inlet water pressure is 125 psi. If daytime pressure is over 80 psi, nighttime pressure may exceed the maximum allowed water pressure. Use a pressure-reducing valve (PRV) to reduce the pressure if needed.
• Maximum: 125 PSI (8.78 kg/cm2)
• Minimum: 25 PSI (1.75 kg/cm2)
-
How much floor space does the brine tank and softner require? Thanks
Ideally, you should allocate a 3-foot by 2-foot area for the unit. The 48,000 resin tank has a 10" diameter and the brine tank that comes with it is a 15"x15" square container.
Hope this helps!
-
does the softener use a flow meter to control regeneration or just a timer?
Yes, a flow meter is included!
-
how long will the tank (AS-HS48FM) last before replacement is needed? 5 yrs, 10yrs. 20yrs?
Hi,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your inquiry.
The life expectancy on the resin tank is 8 to 10 years.

Can Backwash water drain be above water softener
We do not recommend running the drain line more than 7 feet vertical.
-
What type of salt do you use
Mortons clean and protect
-
Is this unit considered a high flow softner?
The system employs the counter flow method during regeneration. When in normal service, the system is a downflow system that pushes water down into the resin for a proper ion exchange. When it is regenerating, the flow reverses and becomes an up flow system.
-
Does the control head maintain information after a power outage?
No, there is no battery back up.
-
Dimensions of salt tank.
15 x 37
-
Can I install in the area where almost all day direct sunlight ( Florida)
Outdoor installation is not recommend, if so we highly suggest to have a shelter covering the unit agaisnt all outside elements.
-
Will the system notify me if it needs me to add more salt to the brine and how will I know how much salt to add to it?
Thank you for reaching out to us. Outside of regeneration, the water level should always be about half-filled in the salt tank, regardless of the salt level. You should have started with 80 lbs of salt. That amount normally lasts our customers around 2-3 months. Once the salt level is about 2-3" from the bottom of the tank, you'll need to add another 80 lbs.Â
Please let us know if you have any further questions. -
How many gallons of water are used during regeneration?
60-80 gallons
-
What is the flow rate?
15-20gpm
-
Is the regen water caustic or acidic? I will need a condensate pump. Any recommendations? g GPM
The drain water will be the same as the incoming water.
-
Do you need to add 5 gallons of water to the brine tank after installation?
Yes, you'll need to start with 80lbs of salt and 5 gallons of water.
-

For shipping does the system arrive in 2 packages .... ie tank and salt basin?
Hello,Â
yes it does, please reach out to us with your order number so we can track your packages. -
Will this soften the water in the toilets as well?
Hello,Â
Thank you for reaching out to us, yes it will. -
Does this system take care of sulfur smell in the water?
No, the water softener will not help remove the smell alone. You'll need to look into a carbon filter.
-
How much salt is required at startup and how log does it last until it needs to be replenished
80lbs of salt is required initially and this generally lasts our customers 2-3 months.
-
How far can the salt tank be away from the softner
Hello,Â
The salt tank should be about 4-5 feet away from the softener. -
Do you have to change/add to the resin? Or only salt?
Hello,Â
Thank you for reaching out to us, our systems last between 8 to 10 years so you would only need to worry about replacing salt. You would start with 80 pounds of salt and then add another 80 pounds every 2-3 months. -
I would like to place the resin tank as close as possible to my cement block basement wall. From all of the pics that I can find, it looks like the 1" yoke extends beyond the diameter of the resin tank by 4 to 6 inches (before adding connecting fittings). If I turn the resin tank 90 degrees, I won't be able to view the readout. Do you a resin tank head with inlet and outlet piping that comes out of the side (and not out of the back)? The unit looks wonderful for my needs and it has glowing reviews but I can't set it out in the center of my utility room. Thank You
Hi Rich,Â
Thank you for reaching out to us, we do not have any in/outlets that would come out through the side, everything is attached in the back on the control head.
