Is this just a softener, or a filtration system? I have a different system, and need a replacement of a whirlpool whole house filtration system.
The system you are inquiring about is a whole house water filtration system. It is not a water softener.

Will this system help with strong sulfur smelling water
This system will do well for strong sulfur smell and can be uprgraded with KDF85 to increase the effectiveness.

I would be interested in knowing what this filtration system removes from the water. How often do the filters need to be changed and where do I order replacement filters from?
The system removes all of the following particulates/agents from the water:
1st Stage: Rewashable pleated sediment filter help reduces sand, dirt, dust, sediment, silt, scale and other rust particles.
2nd Stage: Fortitude Media Tank GAC / KDF Mix media help removes a wide range of harmful chemical such as chloramine, chlorine, herbicides, pesticides, taste, odor, and VOC's. It also inhibits scale, bacteria growth and prevent media from fouling.You can wash the sediment filter inside the blue housing a total of 3 times to prolong the life a bit. Typically this filter needs to be replaced after 12 months depending on your water quality.

i have a pre-filter that is on before softner, can this be used after softner?
