I currently have a whole house water filter you get from a big box store. I put a 10 micron carbon filter in it and my sulfur issue goes away for about two weeks. Then it comes back worse than it was before. It is as if the filter catches the sulfur and then when it is too much for it, it then makes the water worse than it was to begin with. Will this filter be any different? I don't want to spend $800 and it doesn't work.

The Fortitude Pro carbon media tank with the KDF85 upgraded selected will remove sulfur.

what is the KDF85 upgrade? I don't see the specs - Chlorine Reduction etc. and installation size/space needs?

KDF85 is for water with sulfur issues. We do not have specs for chlorine removal rate, though it is recommended to use a carbon media with a backwash valve if your chlorine is 2ppm and above. The tank on its own is 12x12x56 and weighs 96lbs.

Does this unit go before softner

Yes, all pre-filters and carbon tanks will go before the softener

Hello! No, the system does not have the ability to withstand direct exposure to the sun nor other outside elements. Our systems are intended for inside installation.

How often does the activated carbon need to be replaced in the second filter?

How does the GAC / KDF Mix media get clean? Is it self cleaning? Is there a way to replace the media? If not, after how much use would I have to replace the entire filtering system?

You can purchase a backwash valve for the tank (we offer manual or digital valves) to help wash the tank, otherwise this filter will be good for 1M gallons or water or ~5 years.

What is the KDF85 upgrade? What are the benefits

The KDF85 upgrade replaces the KDF55 that already comes in the tank.

It's intended for additional iron/H2S removal.

Will it remove arsenic?

No, this system will not remove aresenic.

Does the filter tank ever need replacement or new filter material?

Does this remove sulfur dioxide in the water. I bought your 48000 grain softener from Lowe's which it doesn't seem to help with that and now I need something else for the sulfur.

Water softeners do not remove sulfur. The Fortitude Pro with the KDF85 upgrade is for sulfur.

Where is this product made, what is the certification please

We obtain parts overseas and assemble in the states. There are no current certifications.

Does it filter fluoride?

No it does not remove fluoride

The media tank will helpremove some iron, but not all. It depends on your iron type in the water as well as the level of it found in your water.

Does this system back flush and of so how much does it back flush?

Yes, it does. The system goes through a regeneration based on either the amount of gallons set or in set time intervals, depending on preference.

Do both lines, supply and delivery have to be 1 inch?

We have a 3/4" NPT option as well. By default, all orders will come with a 1" NPT unless specified.

What exactly comes with this? What filter replacement could be used instead of a washable filter? With high sediment water, approximately how often are filters needed?

This unit comes with a pleated sediment filter desinged to work with high volumes of sand, dirt, dust, sediment, silt, scale and other rust particles. The larger tank is a GAC/KDF media tank to help remove chloramine, chlorine, herbicides, pesticides, taste, odor and VOCs. This will only come with the pleated sediment filter. You may wash this once in between its replacement time of 11-12 months.

What is the flow rate of this unit?

the normal flowrate is 12gpm and max at 20gpm.

What is the annual cost to maintain this system? Does black colored tank contains carbon that needs to be replaced annually?

The cartridge in the blue pre-filter should be changed annually, or every 100,000 gallons. The cost of that cartridge is $27.99. The carbon and media that are in the tank need to be replaced around every 5 years, depending on your water quality.

Will this prevent calcium buildup on a shower head? If not what would I have to add to the system to help that?

Does this install before or after the Serene softener

This system will be installed before the Serene System.

My system came with 2 baskets. The directions show where to put the “Upper basket” over the riser tube. Where does the other basket go?

Second basket no need for assembly it is an extra lower basket if needed.

It removes up to 50% of the forever chemicals in the whole house. The RO will remove both fluoride and forever chemicals from your water.

Can this pro Series be installed outdoors?

If the system is installed outdoors, it must be fully enclosed and kept sheltered from all weather conditions.

Does this do a good job of removing chlorine? What is the warranty and how much wear would two people get from it approximately?. Once it no longer works can it just be replaced with a new model? Thanks Jane

This system can remove up to 95+% of chlorine. It comes with a standard one year warranty with a free extended 4 years if registered within 60 days of purchase. If the system no longer works, you may purchase new media or tank.

Can I add calcite to this tank in order to adjust the pH of our well water?

Yes, you can utilize an acid neutralizer but the neutralizer should be installed before any of our systems. Adding a neutralizer to one of our system will break down the media inside the system.

The sediment filter is replaceable and the media inside the tank is replaceable as well.

The Fortitude Pro is a granular filter and so is not assigned a micron rating.

Caron tank (media) has a life span of 3-5 years before needing replacement.

Hey there, the AS-FP1000 is the 1,000,000-capacity tank. I'm unsure what you mean by "bottom of the nozzle" distance. Please contact our support team directly for assistance on that. As for chloramine and chlorine filtration, the Fortitude Pro with KDF85 upgrade reduces those chemicals by 80-95% based on the concentration of the water.

How is stage 2 maintained? does it need to be replaced after are certain period or can maintenance be done on it by replacing the media? cost of maintenance? Do you offer a package deal with your 48,000 grain softeners (I do not need the RO system for the sink). Thanks

The large Carbon Block tank filter has a lifespan of that 1,000,000 gallons. The only maintenance would be an occasional backwash and rinse of the filter with the included mechanical valve on the tank. This only needs to be done every 6 months or sooner as needed depending on the quality of the water.
