New softener system

I was excited to have this arrive, it came in a reasonable amount of time. My first concern when it arrived was if the contents in the salt bin were ok. It looked like FedEX was using it for kicking practice. I emailed the company and they opened a ticket on the system in case of damage. The salt bin and contents were ok. Then several days later I noticed a long box in the driveway, the resin tank. But FedEX hadn't notified me of the delivery, that box was also mangled, but the tank is undamaged thanks to the good packing by Aquasure.

Aquasure gets five stars plus, FedEx gets a big zero.

Like the system we chose

We are just 1 week since installation and are pleased with the softness of the water. Our public water was about 7 on the hardness scale, and now it is at zero. Fortunately my grandson is a plumber and did the install , and did an excellent job. The sales material suggested it is a easy install, which I think is not accurate , The one thing we are still experiencing with our water is some residue spotting on our stainless kitchen sink. This may be from the sodium from the salt or something else , as it does rub out easier than the hard water spots , but we were hoping for no residue. My salt was rated 99.5% pure. don't know if this will improve after our next regeneration.

Much better than the softener it replaced

I got the 64K size to replace a 48K unit with a lousy 2 digit interface. I like that this one has many functionalities programmable and a decent interface to show the count down of the gallons until the next regeneration. The formula for determining how many gallons to use before regenerating seems a bit off. I've had to lower the number of gallons twice but with trial and error I'll find the right number and should be fine from there.UPDATE: After lowering the number of gallons between regenerations many times, I finally figured out the problem. I have relatively low water pressure at 65 psi. This is a factor when the final phase of the regeneration cycle (bf for brine fill) refills the brine tank to set up for the next regeneration. The factory default of 12 minutes is not enough water into the brine tank at my water pressure for this tank size. This is one of the settings you are recommended not to change, however if you have low water pressure and a large tank (I have the 64K large tank), you will need to adjust that parameter. I set mine to 22 minutes and I was then able to set the number of gallons between regenerations much closer to the calculated value using the formula in the instructions book. It took some trial and error testing but I think I finally got the right settings.

Crickets from tech support!

Went fine. Works good except that I have a small leak at the brine tank. Have called tech support 3 times, freaking crickets from them. But, they do have a nice voice mail system!!!!

Great product

This water softener is great! Our old one was not doing the job and it was not that old. We purchased this one and installed it and it works great. We have really hard water. The water looks great and our tub, sink and toilet are not rusty any more. If anyone needs a water softener and has extremely hard water, this is the item to buy. Guaranteed!!!

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • does it not need the Carbon Backwash Filter??

A backwashing valve is not included as standard with the fortitude system, although you can add one to extend the life and efficiency of the system.

  • Is there an alert when the salt level gets low?

Our systems do not come with a low salt alert. It is recommended to check the salt level once every month or two.

  • Q1)At what level salt should be kept at. Please provide max and min levels for it. Q2) what happen if the water is being used while the softener is in its recharge/regeneration cycle.

You should start off with 80lbs of salt. Once the salt level is about 3-4" from the bottom of the tank, you will need to add another 80lbs.

You can still turn your water on during a regeneration but you might feel a drop in water pressure. You should not run the washing machine or the dishwasher during a cycle, which normally lasts an hour and 40 minutes.

  • How much salt does the brine tank hold on a AS-HS48SCP?

The brine tank holds a maximum of about 120 lbs of salt but we suggest you start with a minimum of 40-80 lbs. This will give you a better sense of how much salt is being used per regeneration.

  • is the water drinkable or would you recommend a reverse osmosis system?

The water is drinkable, however, we strongly advise checking the hardness levels of your water beforehand.
If your hardness is below 400ppm, then it is safe to drink. Anything above 400ppm, you will need to place a reverse osmosis to get rid of the sodium levels.
If you desire bottle-water quality, we recommend going with a reverse osmosis system.
